The Vest ...

Tom:

oh man. If I was on pressure 6 or 3 I would have been screaming in pain. I barely handle 1 some nights. Which vest do you wear? full or chest? I can almost handle a pressure setting 2 with the chest vest.

Be well.

I hope you don't mind if I ask a question about kids on this line... my kids (1.5 years) have their settings on 14 and 4. That sounds really high compared to what several of you mentioned above. They don't act like it's painful... but they also don't talk, so I can't ask.

So, I'm trying to understand - Does the treatment get more painful as you get older/more lung disease? Or maybe I am misunderstanding the setting.

THANKS in advance for any insights.

DS has had the Hill Rom Vest 104 for the past month. Frequency is 10, 12, 14 thru out a 20 minute time period. Pressure started at 4 for the first week, up to 5 and now at 6. He does complain when we first start that it makes his tummy hurt -- we start at 14 and end at 10 for the last evening treatment. Sometimes it's just a matter of getting slouched, scrunched down on our bed and he can't see Spongebog. And once in awhile he lays on his side, propped up on the side of the couch and that seems more comfortable for him, but it's rare 'cuz he might fall asleep and miss something important.

I have my settings on 12 hz and 2, I can't handle any higher. It does not make me hurt at all, and I just use the chest not the full. I can't really tell if it helps or not.

Cheyenne was recently in the hospital and the dr she was seeing, as hers was out of the country, again, changed her settings around and she says it really hurts and makes it hard to breath. She is using it twice daily at 9, 10, 16 and 19 for 5 minutes each setting and the pressure is at 6.

I keep my pressure between 3 and 4. The frequency HZ i use is different ones all the time. I start out @ 10 and then up to 15 , then sometimes i go all the way to 25. The only problem with going that high is , it itches the heck out of me where the vest is. I do feel the vest is a help to me ( or i wouldnt do it at all) but i have to admit it annoys me sometimes. I have the old model vest ( the real big heavy machine)
