The Vest

This is going to sound silly, but I've often wondered if any of you experience any indigestion or anything else from using the vest?
I also have always wondered if it's good for all your organs to be shook around, since that probably wasn't a consideration back when your organs were designed (or when they evolved, if that's your cup of tea). But then again, maybe the vest is no different than horse riding or something similar.
Anyway, just something I've wondered. Please go easy on me, like I said, kind of a silly question....<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-confused.gif" border="0">

The only thing Reece has complained of is itching. The vest lady told us that was common....saying that the blood is being brought up closer to the skin hence the itchiness. I had the same sort of concern at first...like shaken baby syndrome & his heart particulaily being josled. But so far so good & it has been almost 3 years since we've been using the vest. Hope this helped.

Hi Lynda,

I second that. I itch real bad when I take the vest off after about 20 minutes of therapy. I feel like I could just rip my skin off. I'll usually scratch for a few minutes then start my Pulmozyme. It goes away quickly.

HOWEVER, my doctor did say that you have to be careful with the pressure and frequencies. He says that if they are too high they can cause heart arrthemias (spelling). Make sure you use it as your doctor prescribes. Off the top of my head, I can't remember what those levels were. I only use it as prescribed. If I remember correctly, it would be a very extreme therapy. No doctor would ever advise it to use used that way. Only someone who thought the most extreme would be best would be in danger.

Other than that, I know of no other side affects.

I have had a few problems over time. I dont know if you really call them side affects. I have had the skin itching. I have had airway restrictions as well as indigestion & just plain old discomfort. Its not on a regular basis so I just adjust the settings to what works & is comfortable for that time if I am having a problem. I think if our bodies were always meant to be in an inflatable vest with no problems we would have been born that way LOL!.....

The only side effect that I've had from the Vest is itching and redness. I only itch if I go a few days without using it and then use it. But if I use it everday, it just turns me red.

I also get the itching that drives me absolutely bonkers all over my chest and upper stomach areas sometimes even my arms.

I also get the urge to use the bathroom oftentimes. The only other thing I have really ever had a problem with is tightness in my chest - but I know that was because the doc had me using a setting too high. He wanted me to use a pressure setting of 5 and I need something more like 3 or 4. The 5 was squeezing me so hard I could barely breathe.

Take Care,
Lindsey

There was a health movement in the late 1800s/early 1900s: an advertising slogan: "Vibration is Life!" .... a vibrator in every home!
