The Vest

There was a health movement in the late 1800s/early 1900s: an advertising slogan: "Vibration is Life!" .... a vibrator in every home!

I get the itching too for about 5 minutes and then it's gone. I'd say shaking your organs a little is a good thing. Yoga encourages you to roll over on your back so your stomach is above your head and let your "organs hang". They get plenty of movement during activities and exercising. I'm thinking its's fine.

The only side effect from the vest I get is airway clearance.

I have often wondered the same thing Lynda so dont feel too bad. I get the itchiness also like most have mentioned. I dont know.... doing the vest sometimes relaxes me and sometimes it just annoys me.

Thank you for your responses. I'm glad to know that I'm not alone in my thinking.

The comment Jennifer1981 said is exactly one thing I had wondered about. I already have an irregular heart beat at times & wondered if, by chance, shaking my heart around would hurt/help or really not make any difference whatsoever.

My husband's insurance is changing the first of the year & EBI? (anyone heard of them), will be a preferred provider and from what our insurance rep said, they sell vests. I plan to call & see if they offer all of the vest options.

I just want to be well informed before I buy something that has that many zeros in the price! It's hard to believe that you could buy a nice car for the same price!! But then the car wouldn't be covered by your medical insurance-LOL I wonder which one would last the longest though (the car or the vest)

Hi Lynda,

Glad I could help you out. I don't remember how the topic came up with my doc, but it just did. I'm not having any heart problems or anything.

Just ask your doc about that concern in particular. I have been using the vest now for about 4 months and love it. It is the best airway clearance invention for me. Prior to that, I used the Flutter for about 12 years. I'd never go back. I really hope that you can use it. I'm sure you won't regret it!!!

Also, I am not familiar with that insurance. But I thought your analogy to a car was pretty funny.

I had itching when I first started using it. Now it hardly happens. It also "tickles" my nose when I breathe in. Makes my nose itch like crazy. That has also become less of a problem. I have had it cause my back to hurt. I have fibromyaglia, so the back pain probably comes from the vibrating aggravating it. And it may sound weird, but I have kidney stone problems, and I think the vibration from the vest causes the stones to get on the move....like at home liptotripsy (sp?).
