Em, that was cute! Nuts, haven't heard the expression used that way since JR high

Melissa and Lynda, they don't use all 17 at once. They fertilize all of them tonight using ICSI and then call me tomorrow to let me know how many fertilized. Inevitabely, there will be a few that might not take, a few that grow for a day or two and have some sort of "arrested development" . Then what they do is pick out the best 1-2 embryos and implant them on day 5 (which will be this coming Wednesday). Any that are left over will be frozen for a future cycle. If we don't ever end up using the ones we freeze, we will donate them to another couple who has problems too (egg and sperm problems).

Then we begin the 2WW (2 week wait) before I can take a pregnancy test. I hear that's the most difficult part .

Thanks everyon for the encouraging words!!!

Hi Julie! I just posted on the last message you left....I didn't see this one...my husband is Jeremy...30 w/cf....and we went through the same exact thing....Jeremy says to tell Mark there may be a little soreness for a couple of days and that it's not that bad....well worth what you get in return....they had to draw out around 7 vials from Jeremy until they finally got motile sperm......but then got 10 vials of the good stuff! ;-) (We only wanted one child...don't know why they took THAT much! ;-) Anyways....the good news is that it worked the first time and our twin boys will be 3 this month! It's a long hard journey and our thoughts and prayers are with you! Leandra A.

Leandra,

Thanks for the encouraging words! It's always nice to hear from others who have "been there". Congrats on your twins!!!!! I told Mark what your hubbie said.

On the same subject, I have a "success" stories page on my website, www.cysticfibrosismaleinfertility.com and am ALWAYS looking for couples to contribute their "success" story. If you and your husband are interested (you CAN remain anonymous) I would LOVE to add your story to our website!!! People LOVE to read that stuff when they are just starting on this journey, to know that others have been successful!

Each time they took one out you should have let loose a real loud "PAWKAWK!" and thrown some feathers in the air.

Coulda had mark or someone else stand there and do it...I guarantee you the medical staff would have never forgotten it. Like the walmart stockboy tonight at walmart with my mom. I had three rubber plungers in my hands and had two firmly stuck to my both my nipples, and one on my belly. I was removing them and plunging them back over and over out of boredom and making loud pop noises with them. My mom got all red and was begging me to stop. I finally quit. But the stockboys were lookin at me like I was the "special" kid that got away from his tour group. I then went up to the older stockboy and asked him (he was putting ballons away) "Do those balloons blow up into funny shapes?"...He said "Just round..."...I then said "Well, I think round is a funny shape..." and then I just stared at him with some saliva bubbles on my bottom lip...

He didn't know what to do, and it took every bit of willpower not to break out laughing or even grin. My mom just kept looking at me on the way home.
