thinking of starting Pulmo again

I know that this question has been asked many times before and I tried to look back and find it, but couldnt.

I started the HTS almost a year ago and have not done Pulmo since then, excpet when I was in the hosp. Well recently the HTS has been making my cough very tight sounding throughout the entire day. I do it like a half hour after I wake up and I mix it with the alb. My doc prescribed a dropper-like contraption of alb and told me to mix it in and maybe that would help also with the spastic cough (as I was having big problems with that before my cleanout).

I do like the HTS very much, it has helped me to cough out tons and tons of junk, so I would like to stay on it. Would doing Pulmo before hts help? Or do you guys usually do Pulmo after? I am thinking that now that I am not doing the HTS and alb separetly, I will have more time in the morning to work in Pulmo (it seemed to do well for me in the hosp).

You should always do the Pulmozyme after HS. I am questioning mixing the brochodilator with HS. Others on here may do that?? I always do it at the beginning with no vest to get my lungs nice and open then do the HS. Also, do you have an asthma component to your CF? I do a puff of Advair after my tx routine and it helps me to feel nice and open through the day. After am tx I am "a little squeaky" until the Advair kicks in about a 1/2 hour later even with doing a brochodialator before starting. Hope this helps.

I always thought you shouldn't do pulmo and HTS together in the same session. I think a few people on here told me that. I do my pulmo in the morning after my albuterol/atrovent and while I am doing my vest. It really helps get the junk out. Then at night I do the HTS with my vest.

My DR told me not to do the albuterol with HTS because you need the albuterol to open your airways to get the HTS in. Doing them together kind of defeats that purpose. But I did it that way for a long time to save time in the mornings until my DR asked me one day and told me its a no-no.

What % is your HTS? Maybe it is too high for you? I tried 7% when I was in the hospital and I had to go back down to the 3% (which I use at home) because it was way too much for me. I would cough and hack the whole time I was breathing it in so I couldn't get any of it into my lungs.

It's funny how different DRs have different ways of doing things. But I guess whatever way works for the person is best. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">
