thinking of starting Pulmo again

I do mine: Xopenex, then HS, then vest (to get the HS up and out before my Pulmozyme), then Pulmozyme. I was told to do my Xopenex before (ideally, 15 mins before) starting HS to prevent bronchospasms (?). I admit, I don't though, but it hasn't caused me any problems.

My doctor had originally told me to do Xopenex, Pulmozyme, wait 15 mins. and then do HS, but after reading others posts about it, I decided to try it after and that works better for me.

I do the 7% HS in the mornings, and the 3% in the evenings, because the 7% was too irritating at night. But that's probably just me . I do Pulmozyme twice a day, btw.

I think best bet is to do Pulmo after HS. However, my doctor said that sometimes it wouldn't hurt to do Pulmo Before HS , that way it'll help cough up more gunk. I noticed that I get a lot of junk out if I do a little HS, then Pulmo.. Wait a little bit , maybe even put a heating pad on my chest, and then do some more HS. Of course, you can add the vest into the mix as well. This works best for me, as far as getting the most gunk out:

1 - 3 ML HS
2 - Vest
3 - Pulmo
4 - Heating Pad on my Chest, or Drink Hot Tea, wait a little while
5 - 3 ML HS
Sometimes I'll do some HS with vest, and sometimes without. Getting the best of both worlds in my opinion.

The Order of Operations Is:

1. Bronchodilator (albuterol or xopenex)

2. Mucolytics (pulmozyme THEN hypertonic saline)

3. Inhaled antibiotic (TOBI or colistin)

4. Long acting bronchodilator (serevent or foradil)

5. Inhaled steroid (flovent, advair, or pulmicort)

lightNlife,
I like your blog. I am interested to know why you do pulmozyme before the HS. My brochure from Genentech lists the order and recommends Pulmozyme after HS. Do you have to wait a while after pulmozyme before starting clearance with HS? I am guessing that it may be better to get pulmozyme in before your lungs get pissed off with HS, is that the reason? Some of the reasons I have been told to do it after clearnce are that you don't want to do pulmo before HS because you want it to stay in there.
