Briceton was recently diagnosed with "mild" liver disease. The statistics they gave me are 4% of CFers have liver disease, most showing signs before the age of 4, and 1% continues on to have "severe" liver disease (I guess, meaning that the liver actually takes there lives before the lungs)

I'm just curious how many here have liver disease? Also, what kind of approach are they taking with your liver disease (meds, treatments, etc.)?

Thanks for your response!

My son was diagnosed with liver disease when he was an infant. He was born with meconium illeus and was on tpn for 2 weeks. Both of those are risk factors for liver disease. He takes Actigal and gets checked once a yr by his GI dr. His liver has been soft and the right size since he turned one. Those are good signs I am told. If they notice any changes then he gets more testing done.

Same thing here... After his bowel obstruction surgery DS was also on tpn for 2-3 weeks and was showing some liver issues. He's been on actigall since that time. They check his liver at each appointment -- noting that it's soft and not enlarged. And at least once a year they do bloodwork to check too.

Briceton's liver is enlarged and fatty! His liver enzymes have been high since birth but the enzyme level came back fine this past test. Just worries me about the enlargement.
