Tips and Tricks

Hey! I thought it would be interesting and beneficial to post up some different tips/tricks everyone uses related more to organizing all things CF related.
For example:
I have one of those giant rubbermaid containers with a bunch of drawers in different sizes to put most of my medical supplies in. Almost everything fits. I have to have a separate place for my "port care" supplies and meds that are not in use (I get Creon in three month supplies, so I will put a few bottles in the container and keep the rest in a closet). At the top I have a plastic bin that I lay out paper towels on to lay out my nebs after I've cleaned/sanitized them.
Use one of the rectangle tupperware containers to hold nebs. Mine constantly were falling over when they weren't in use. However, I can fit three at a time in the tupperware and it keeps them all together and nothings tips over. Easier to transport from my room to the bathroom for cleaning and such as well.
I just got those "trendy top" things on TV. I'm hoping to use them to help hold my J-tube in place a little better. Hopefully they work well! I hate tucking the tube in my waistband.

My purse essentials:
Medicine bottle with extra Creon - Hand sanitizer - Blood glucose monitor/stips/lancets - Emergency food for low sugar - Tissues - Water bottle - Mints/Cough drops/Hard candy - Inhaler w/ spacer
(Clearly my purse weighs a TON, but at least I always have what I need if I get held up somewhere or decide to stay out longer than I planned....etc)
I'm still trying to figure out how to compact this a litttle better. Maybe I'll get some make-up bags to store things together...

Anyone have any tips on wearing an insulin pump with a dress? Right now I either leave in unclipped and then go to the bathroom to hook it up for bolusing or clip it on my underwear which doesn't always work the best. I'm hoping those trendy tops might also work for this....

Kyla, a leg garter works great to clip the pump on when you are wearing a dress. It doesn't work so well if the dress is tight fitting, since the ruffles of the garter will show through, but if it's a flowy dress you can't see it at all. Also, I've just taped the pump to my inner thigh. I use medical tape because it comes off easily but still keeps the pump in tact. Face the pump so that the buttons are facing out (easy access when you need to bolus), and wrap tape around your entire thigh and in through the clip. I advise shaving first if you use that method <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

This is SUPER helpful. Thank you! As a new CFRD patient, I have been considering a pump and wondered what ppl did with dresses.

Thanks for this!
