To Clear up about SSDI and working

just to clarify...the earned amount per month we're talking about here, $720, INCLUDES your SSDI payment, right? It's not in addition to? Meaning, if I get $600 from SSDI, then I could lose my benefits (in time, I understand it's not right away) if I make $120 a month at my part-time job. That's how I understood this.

I thought I had a grasp on all of this stuff. Ugh! <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif" border="0">

Julie knows a lot of this info so maybe she will respond again. Erin, just wanted to say that the amount per month ($720) does NOT include your SSDI (unless there's something I'm not aware of). I also work part-time (very part-time). I'm lucky if I make $75 a month; however, I get more than the $720 a month from SSDI alone. So they do not count that amount in what you can earn a month. It is stickly the money you make while working that they count. Hope that makes sense.

It's all very confusing!

Julie

Thats the way I understand it also.

I had posted what you had not long ago.
Although my wording was not as well written as yours
But the same facts..

But even 629. extra is not bad.

OKay I just talked to Beth. What Julie said is correct, if you make under $720 a month they will not take to much notice, if you make over that, they will evaluate you. Anything over 720.00 counts as your nine months you have to return to work. After you work for nine months making over 720.00 a month, they can reevaluate your case and if they think you are earning a substainal amount of money, (over a thousand dollars) they will stop your case.

The 720.00 is earned income, not the income given to you from your SSDI check so I get 923.00 a month from SSDI and I make working four days a month 987.00. I was told I can continue to do this.

I hope it is right. I am going to look into it more.

wow, you guys get a lot of SSDI! Good for you, that's great to hear! I honestly don't know how I'm going to get through my bills (especially the medical) after not working because of my current hospital stay. SSDI helps a lot, but I dread the day when I realize I'm too unhealthy to hold down my part time job at all! I'm afraid for a day when I need to decide between groceries OR utilities just because I'm too sick to work...

They should offer a class or something for people who go on SSDI...although it would probably be too expensive, lol.
