To Sterilize or Not to Sterilize?

As far as I know you never want to get your tubing wet. If water gets in there it is very difficult to dry thoroughly which then becomes a haven for bacteria. It exactly what you are trying to avoid!

I've noticed though that some medication does back up into the tubing. In order to take care of this problem, leave the compressor running a bit after your final treatment. This'll dry things out.

Hey katie,
I once thought I could wash tubing and it would dry out,,,,,,,, impossible!
I always have plenty of tubing, so I change tubing with every med. I use the same one for each med for a little while , but I just go to the medical supply store and buy it, instead of taking any chance's......

There's always something to learn with CF.
Goodluck, and blessings to you katie,,,,,,,Karla

The actual tubing you DO NOT sterlize. How you get the moisture/med out of it is have your compressor run for a littl while and put the end of the tubing not touching anything over a wastepaper basket to catch the liquid. The air from your compressor will dry out the tubing and you are good to go.
