Just wondering, do any of you notice that right before and during your period your CF acts up a little big more? You cough a little bit more and (if your me) you get a little incontinent. And even before you feel like you haven't taken your enzymes for a few days and your "movements" are the same way. I never had PMS before and I was just wondering if any other women with CF find that the hormone flucuations during your period affects your CF in anyway.

Yes, definately! I am more congested & short of breath right before & during that wonderful time of month! Also, like you mentioned, the ole loose stool syndrome is active during that time too<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-blush.gif" border="0"> You're not alone!

I too have these issues. I have found being on birth control makes the issues less. My lung function seems to be better - meaning I don't think I get sick as easily. I had blood drawn from my arm one time to see if I was loosing alot of blood during my period, seeing if that was the issue - it wasn't. But those hormones do some crazy things.

YUP!!!

In fact i am always on antibiotics right around the time of period. If i am feeling a little down before it shows up then when it shows up i almost always end up in hospital or on home IV for a couple weeks. It has gotten better since going on birth control though, don't know if anyone else found that the pill helped.

I'm actually really really bad at taking the pill, so it kinda screwed things up. I'm on the patch now(which is AWSOME, no pills just change it once a week). But I've been on birth control it since I was 15 so I was kinda young to have the real problems before.

Yes, right before my period, I cough more and have more congestion. I know that alot of women who have Asthma go through what they call "Pre-Menstrual Asthma flare up". I have Normal lung function (FEV1 - 100% and FVC- 112%) and even I get what your talking about right before my period and even while Im on my period. I started birth control pills to control my irregular cycles and also I have noticed it has helped with my pre-menstrual symptoms, however what works for me may not work for everyone, so I am NOT recommending to try the pill for that. I talked to my CF doctor about and she said that alot of women with CF seems to have that problem and sometimes even when a girl with CF begins puberty sometimes its so hard on the body that some have a lung function decline.
