To the Momma's with CF

I had my daughter when I was 24. She was planned. My FEVs were in the 80s throughout my whole pregnancy. I only gained about 17 lbs...but I felt great. I had a kidney infection during the pregnancy which required antibiotics. I became a gestational diabetic toward the very end of the pregnancy as well. I really felt great though, overall. The months after delivery took a toll on my body. I developed CF related diabetes just 6 mos after she was born.
But, I would do it all again in a heartbeat! She is the greatest gift God could have given to me!

I got pregnant in my late 20's... very unexpectedly. My lungs were in great shape at the time. I did not do so well with the pregnancy... developed gestational diabetes and pre-term labor and bronchitis during the pregnancy. I gain entirely way too much weight. Then I developed complication during the delivery (not CF related).

My son hardly ever slept so I was exhausted for what felt like years. Once he was sleeping better and I was sleeping again all got much better. I was not compliant with my CF care. Due to that I lost a lot of ground with my lungs.

I love being a mom but decided to not have another child. My health just would just not cooperate. Doctors highly recommend my days of babies are over. They were okay with us having baby #1.
