I started on TOBI Podhaler this month. (I'm in Toronto, Canada.) You have to take 4 tablets by inhaler twice a day. The taste is kind of bitter, but I'm fine with that given the time it saves. The inhaler punctures the tablet and it spins inside the inhaler -- very different from a traditional inhaler. I actually took a drug called Intall in the early 1970s that used the same basic idea.

If you're in Canada, check at your CF clinic. I spoke with the social worker and she filled out a form and faxed it to the drug company. They work with your insurance companies on coverage since it's a new drug. The cost is the same as the TOBI we all know (and hate), but it's not fully available right now. The drug company has to ship it to your pharmacy or they will send it by FedEX from their pharmacy.

The DIN is 02365154.

I'm very excited to have something that actually takes less time. :)
