tobi problems

I posted on here a few months ago that I thought Tobi actually made me sicker. Well, I was on bactrium for 2 weeks and I have been taking all my treatments, Vest, and going to Curves religiously. During this time, I felt like my PFTs was way up from 64% (when i went for a check-up in March). Well, anyways, the day I got off of bactrium (about a week and a half ago) I started my Tobi. I didn't change anything (still going to Curves and doing all my treatments, Vest) but I feel like my PFTs are back down again. I have been weezing, staying up all night coughing, my chest is tight, and I get EXTREMELY out of breath when I'm exercising. I've mentioned this to my doctor before, but she didn't seem too concerned, but I'm starting to get worried. I'd hate to know that all these years of Tobi have actually made things worse. EVERY time I go to the doctor while I'm on Tobi, or have just gotten off, my PFTs are down. Is there anything else the doctor can give you for PA?

I am the exact same way with tobi. I can't take it period.....for all the same symptoms you mentioned above. I have been off of it for seven years and my functions have more of less stayed the same.

I tolerated TOBI for a couple of years, then I started to notice a pattern of being very short of breath during the "month on" period. Finally, I quit taking it, somewhat with my doctor's blessing.
I later asked him if being on the TOBI actually did any damage during that time frame & he said "No", so I assume that is correct.

I used to do really well on Tobi (and previously the inhaled, mix it yourself Tobramyacin), but then started having the same symptoms. I took a few years off, and then started on Advair. Now I can take it for about 3 weeks (if I do my Advair first ), and if I start out with 2/3rds of a dose for a few days in the beginning. Sometimes, I still can't do the whole dose, so I just do partial dose -usually 3/4 -and it works for me. I don't know why such a small amount would make such a big difference, but.... (Ask your dr first if all/any of this is okay with him if you want to try it ).
