Tobi Refrigeration Question

Hey Guys

I will be staying in a hotel this week for my work conference. I just remembered that I forgot to request a room with a refrigerator. Is it a requirement for TOBI to be refrigerated? I realize I could take a cooler with me, but I am just curious if it would be the end of the world if it wasn't cold?

ThankS!

when I was in the hospital, I learned that TOBI is good for 29days out of refrigieration...not 100% positive though

I was always told it had 2 hours life outside the fridge before it went bad, but who knows!

Erin is correct, you can store TOBI at room temperature for up to 28 days. Sometimes it gets kind of yellowish when it is out of refrigeration for a while but as long as the solution does not look cloudy or have any particles floating in it its still safe to use.
No need to get a fridge at your hotel.

READ ALL YOUR TOBI INFO, ITS IN THERE. It can stay x number of days (read the insert) room temperature as long as it stays in the foil packs it comes in!!

I was under the impression it had to be kept refrigerated. So when I travel this is how I do it. I wrapp the ampules in tin foil and then put it in a pouch with an ice pak. When I get to the hotel, if it does not have a fridge then I throw the meds in an ice bucket filled with ice. I replenish the ice every morning.

I am not sure if this is the best way, but it it what I have always done.

I have done it that way as well Jennifer. I also have a small gerber cooler it really small, its made for a couple of baby bottles. I throw an ice pack in and my Tobi works great.

The website for TOBI is abouttobi.com and they have a patient education section. Under FAQs they tell you how to store it and that it does not need to be refrigerated. I suppose it doesnt hurt to keep it cool but its not really necessary.
Here is the link to the TOBI site.
