The only thing that worked for my son just a few weeks ago was mixing his meds into yogurt or a liquid.. Also a few time i would have to call Nana or someone to coax him into even drinking the liquid even though he didnt know it was in there!! HAHA it will get better.. They let my son eat whatever he wanted and i feel that helped him heal pretty quickly.. He had them out on a tuesday and went back to school the following monday!

Thank you Liza for the suggestions and tell your husband the same. I will definately try the water thing and yes we have been giving the pain medacine every four hours. We had the medacine flavored grape because Stacia said it tasted so bad in the hospital that we thought it would be better to try to get it flavored so I hope that is not why it burns so bad. But today seems to be a little bit better, so thanks again.

I had mine out 8 years ago and I recall how EVERYTHING seemed to burn. I usually just tried to follow my meds with a drink of tepid/lukewarm water. I wandered around with a glass of crushed ice and a glass of water constantly.

I also started craving salty stuff, so I'm put a saltine cracker in my mouth and wash it down with some lukewarm water. Seemed soothing to me. Did they warn you about day 8? That's about the time the ears start to ache terribly. And then after a couple days, everthing was fine.

I hope she is doing better. My 6 yr old had his out this summer and we had the same issues. We ended up skipping the Rx pain meds (didn't have a pill form for his size...only liquid) and just took OTC tylenol in pill form. It was easier for him to swallow a pill than to take the burning liquid.
