I have a CF friend that is going for an evaluation on June the 9th at UAB (University of Alabama at Birmingham). I was just wondering of anyone on here has been there and if so what was your experience with them. Any info would be much appreciated

Hey Sara,
I've got you as a friend on facebook. You're from Sandersville,I think, and I'm from Bay Springs.
I just got listed at UAB on April 28th. I started my evaluation process back in December '09. UAB's Kirkland Clinic is awesome. Everyone is super nice and if you aren't able to walk any distance they will escort you in a wheelchair. I did a lot of my tests at UMC because I was already in the hospital in Jackson at the time, but there were some tests I had to do at UAB. It's not as bad as I thought it would be. It's just time consuming having to go from one dept. to another. You can PM me or message me on facebook with any questions you have. I'll be happy to help any way I can. Talk to you soon.........Pam Bishop

Hi Sara, I go to UAB, but I haven't had a transplant. I do know a couple of people on FB who are on the waiting list, and one person irl who had a transplant elsewhere, but is now followed by UAB. If you would like their names, I can give you a blog and where to find them on another cf forum in a pm. Just let me know!

Hello Pamela,
My sister had a double lung at UAB for CF over 10yrs. ago and doing great.
I also have CF and 62 yr. old. I live in Florence. Moved from Jackson after I retired from Baptis Med. CTR.
I am in the early process of looking at UAB my self.
