transplants not sure if i wanna go for it

It was a part of my evaluation for them to ask if I have ever used drugs or alcohol or if I was at the moment. It had never been an issue for me so I don't know what they would have done had I said yes. I would say ask the doctors about transplant....it is not they who decide if you can have a transplant or not....it's like UNOS or the OPO. Your doctors can review your case and send it to them and make suggestions, but it ultimately the other groups who say yes or no.

I was kind of a unique case....I needed double lung and liver. The doctors said that they would do it but it still had to be sent to the hospital board and then to UNOS.

im post transplant, the doctor never asked me about a transplant, he said I needed it badly. It's well worth it.

I think that you should definitely bring the transplant option up with your doctors. I was the one to bring it up to mine when I noticed a trend of rapidly decreasing lung function.
