Traveling with Pulmozyme

Hi everyone,

I'm going on a vacation to CA a week from today (Aug 10)... I am debating on whether or not I should take my Pulmozyme.. How much of a hassle is it to keep it cold? Does it have to stay cold the entire time?

Thanks for any suggestions you may have!

I think it does have to stay cold the whole time..

When i was younger we would take it with us in the car in 'coolbox' with ice packs that stay cool a long time when you take them out the freezer.

When we would go camping we would ask the owner of the campsite if the meds could be kept in fridge somewhere and that was always possible. Either in the owner's home or sometimes even in a little restaurant on the campsite.

When i went away by plane i tied the pulmozyme to ice packs and when i was in the plane i would ask if they could keep it cool in their fridge and that was always possible.

In hotels i would keep it cool in the minibar in our room. Or when we didn't have that i asked if they could keep it cool in the bar downstairs and i would go and get it in the morning.

Hey, I had the same problem as you when I was younger. Finally we ended up just not taking it. But a while back my Dr. suggested that we store it in a freezer bag (like the kind for meat/fish, I bet you could get them at the deli) or sometimes if you've had a home-clean out, the bags that they deliver the meds in are reusable. They are both good ways to keep pulymozyme cold. I've heard that Pulymozyme can be left un-cooled for like 4 hours. hope this helps!!

I travel with meds in a plastic zip lock bag that also has a pack of blue ice in it. It stays cool all day. If you are staying at a hotel you can ask for a refrigerator in your room. I have not been charged for this because it is for medication.
