I've always wondered/worried about this, too! We went to Disney last month, and I actually did tell them about the vest when I booked the room. Being in a family suite, surrounded by other family suites, I wanted to be courteous about it. They were able to give us a suite on the corner of our building, so we had only one neighbor, and they told us that was someone who lived there permanently...(Why that matters, I'm not sure, but, can you imagine living permanently in a hotel at Disney?!?) It worked out great for us because we were in the room that was physically closest to the main building and the pool!
In other hotels, I've not mentioned it and haven't had any problems, but I've always held my breath until the vest session was over...waiting for the phone call from the front desk or the knock on the door!
Another thing I will always do now is to request a new shower head in the room. I'll also pack one to put on myself if the hotel can't do it. At Disney we also asked for and got brand new, in the package, put on yourself everyday linens. Emily is very sensitive to smells, especially laundry detergent. It was no big deal to put it on ourselves, and the housekeepers just removed the old stuff every day and left us the packs of new ones.
Have a great time this summer!
