This is my first time ever posting. I figured it was about time for me to find others like myself. I have private insurance. I am fortunate to be able to work full time. I do pay $280 a month to have insurance. Then my medications have differently levels of co-pays: $10, $15 or $30. Most of my CF medications are $15 a month but if I by 3 months worth, I only pay for 2 months worth. I feel I am very fortunate to have the coverage I do. If I go in the hospital I pay $500, regardless of how long I stay. My last trip to the hospital was $23,000 and I only paid $500.

We pay a $15 copay and 20% of the drug costs, until we reach an out of pocket maximum (our costs) of $1000, then we just pay $15 per RX. Bad news the first half of the year though -- Tobi costs us $536 the first month

I put out 250.00 a month for enzymes. The co. said they do not have a program, but are working on it, but don't loose any sleep over it. But with all the changes in insurance companies I am told these states will redesign their programs and possibly terminate them.

that ultrase does have some program other than the shake thing. It's called rx complete 1-866-292-2679. I believe it's very new. They told me they'll provid the enzymes free of charge.

I posted on 1/7/06 in the family section a bunch of info, telephone numbers & websites that might be of help. Go under the search option & put in the phrase Creon5 vs Pancrecarb, JazzysMom as the author & select Family section. It should bring up the whole thread including the info I spoke of!

It had been a little while since I had spoken to them (Enzyme Co)

yeah, the only way i even knew the program existed is cause i used to be on the vitamin/scandy deal and they sent a letter telling me about the new program. I was irate when i realized because the soc. worker at my cf clinic is supposed to be aware of these things and i had to skip several refills on it(ultrase). good luck

Wow do I feel blessed. Cory(age 20) has insurance through his father. I had to put out $9,000 in attorney fees fighting his father to keep it. (He wanted to drop him the day he turned 18). We pay $3.00 for generic and $5.00 for all others. I guess listening to what others do, the $9,000 was well worth the fight. This allowed Cory to remain on his dad's insurance indefinately! Cory takes inhaled Aztreonam which is one our most expensive meds. We fight the insurance company each and every month to continue to cover it.
I do know Cory's doctors have a list of drug companies that will supply free medication to those without coverage.
As Julie, we do have the Ensure issue. Insurance will not cover tha cost and we spend $350.00 a month for that.

My wife has insurance BC/BS and we fight all the time for covearge. If anyone else has them don't tell them anything you plan to do or want to do. Just ask them what your coverage is. (If you are calling for information) I know of people who have been dropped (oh by accident of course) when they have said what they were planning on doing medically. So be careful. We have to pay 20 % for brand name medication, not fun with the high costs of meds. and food costs etc.
