My toilet gets those rings when my kids have greasy poops. They are little globs of oil that grow mold. huge yuck!! Those toilet bleach blocks (2000 flushes?) usually keep them in check.

What about the cut flowers?

Evidently, cut flowers start making some bad bacterias after a few days in water. One tip is to remove leaves so that only stem enters the water. Then, iff you keep them only for a few days the bacteria levels won't be too high. Before I knew this I used to keep flowers for a long time - the water in the vase would get murky and then I'd pitch them. I guess we shouldn't have the murky water lingering in the house. Also on a seperate note, a few CFer's have noted being allergic to lillies.

11. I use furnace/air conditioner air filters with MERV rating 11+ (last 3 months - you can get them at Home Depot - the fiberglass one's don't stop anything except big particles).

I just read an article that MRSA is now been found on the hosptial curtains!!!!!!!!! This was a study done in the UK. They are now considering using disposible curtains now. It sucks that you go to the hosptial to get treatment and you come out with something worse.

Anyone's doctor do house calls? When I do IV's at home only a nurse would come. To see the doc. I have to back to the filth hole (aka hospital). I think doc's should go back to the way they did it many, many years ago and visit the sick in bed at their homes. Yeah!

I just read that MRSA CDC link - very interesting... so many seem to be mentioning getting these pimple/boils that are characteristic of MRSA. We shouldn't let them go untreated because if it's in our system it could be colonizing in our lungs, right? or is it unrelated? One pointer that hit home for me is that nursing homes/assisted living homes are hotbeds for MRSA. Who knew.

B.cepacia is an airborne bacteria ( my doctor told me this). I dont know about MRSA but why chance it? Just consider it airborne. If it weren't airborne they wouldn't advise everyone to avoid being within 3 feet of someone with either of them. B.cepacia can live for up to a year or more on a moist surface, and 24 - 48 hours on a dry surface. Scary......................
after reading this i think from now on i wil take my own pen to my appointments to sign in. I always keep hand sanitizer in my car and any time i go anywhere i use it as soon as i am back in the car. I always wash my hands when i get home and like Steph, i always flush pulbic toilets with my foot...........lol
