I'm on a Vitam K supliment yet I still cant clot. I cut my foot last night had to get stitchs, I bled for 2 hours with out stoping. This isnt the first time I've had problems. Does any one know how to stop this? I'm worried about it. I'm a chronic bleeder I cough up small amounts of blood some times large every day, I'm worried that this clotting problem may cause that to get worse. Thanks for the Help.

Do you have a clotting disorder of some kind? Have you ever been tested for hemophilia or Von Willebrand's? Any of those?</end quote></div>

I agree with Jen. Also, what did your last blood draw say about your sed rate? What are your vitamin K levels?

Maybe you need even more vitamin k than you're getting now.

Eat lots of bananas too!

What are the bananas for, Amy?

I agree with having Vitamin K level checked. My current Vitamin dose is double what is was before my hemoptysis in the hospital this year & she said there was room to increase it if need be. Since we dont absorb Vitamin K like others do the dose we take isnt the amount our body actually gets.

Nice work, Em.

Bananas are high in vitamin K aka potassium. THey're also easily digestable because they contain natural digestive enzymes.

But this shouldn't replace taking vitamin K of course. But it's a good addition.

I know bananas are high in potassium, but from what I get in your post. You are saying Vitamin K is the same as potassium (a/k/a potassium)? Correct me if I am wrong!

I COMPLETELY misspoke. My apologies.

Potassium and vitamin K are not the same thing. Potassium is a mineral and vitamin K is a vitamin.

I had a huge brain fart. Sorry for the confusion!

Do you take baby aspirin? That will thin out the blood. Also if you eat lots of garlic or take ginger that inteferes with the aggregation of blood platelets. Risa

Hi - Just wondering if you;ve ever been diagnosed with liver disease? That can play serious havoc with your blood clotting and platelet levels, and is maybe why you're already on Vit K (its a standard presciption for liver related blood problems.) Also there are drugs to help you clot like tranexamic acid, which helps prevent clots that do form from breaking down. I'm on it permanently. Also, regarding the haemoptysis, can you not get that seen to with a bronchial embolisation - bleeding every day must be a pain the arse!! Just a thought, not meaning to step on anyone's toes <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif" border="0">

Nope I dont take any blood thinners, my Dr.'s wont let me. So I dont. I was actualy told that CFer's in gernal shouldnt take blood thinners. ANd acutually it doesnt thin out blood it actually does prevent you from clotting. (sorry a bit of EMT knowledge stuff.)<div class="FTQUOTE"><begin quote><i>Originally posted by: <b>Risa</b></i>
