Trouble coughing stuff up

Getting enough good quality sea salt and water. Then coughing hard during a long hot shower, if necessary. Often, just getting enough good salt and enough water does wonders for helping me cough up crap.

I was using my vest wrong for 12 yrs. This is my new routine..

First i make sure i am hydrated, at least two glassed of water before i start.. I also take about 5 sips after ea segment..

I use a cup now to see exactly what i am or not getting up and out..

Albuterol is first .. Albuterol is finished before vest

i set the first # on 9, middle # on 5, last # on 21, every 3 minutes i up the first # by 1, coughing and spitting 3 times (huffing when necessary) .. I end up w/ 14 being the highest # (this is the # to the left, looking at the machine)

After vest, i do pulmicort and then pulmozyme. Am not doing HTS or Tobi right now, but i know it's important to get the order straight..

After all that i do nasal irrigations , Verimyst, Advar 250/50..

Exercise is helpful, and staying hydrated is so important for me..

If all of the above is not doing the trick then i usually break out the big guns and beg someone for CPT..

I hope this helped. If you have questions PM me..

This might sound stupid, but watch a really funny movie. Sometimes laughing gets you to coughing, and then the mucus comes out.

I dont know if this would be helpful or not but i'll throw it out there anyway.

Usually when i walk on the treadmill i always cough stuff out without even trying.

I guess the deep breathing moves things along. </end quote></div>

Our PT showed us a new technique that involves deep breathing. When she explained the theory, I pictured a lung expanding and while the surface area of the lung wall stretches, the mucus doesn't so it loosens. I'm not sure if that's accurate, but that's what picture my mind conjured. There must be a tutorial online about that somewhere too.
