try to get over a cold..suggestions..

I developed some crazy cold last week, which is very normal for me to get one in the summertime. But, the problem is coughing. I so tired of coughing, and now I starting the barfing reflex, which hurts really bad. I am coughing so hard I am almost barfing, that is just wrong somewhere.

I could get on an antibiotic, but really I don't think I need to be on one. I was just on Tobi last month, plus I do have zythro, and gentamycin for my neb. I will give it some more time since it was just late last week I got over it, so it's dragging on. If the coughing doesn't ceast, or really getting better soon I will call the doc's. I am doing more vest therapys', like three vs. two, it's just really annoying me. I am tired because while I am sleeping sooo sounding, than hack, hack, hack....!

Does anyone have suggestions to either get over the coughing fits sooner, or at least to relax it more at night. I just posted that I use Ibruprofen which works for like 3-4 hours, then hack..hack again.

Before you decide its a cold, have you checked about Allergies? This year has been the worst in recent history according to the American Allergy Association. My husband (non CF) is suffering terribly so imagine what its like for others. It could be a post nasal drip irritating things (which can lead to lung problems) or just an allergy irritating your throat/chest instead of the actual CF. Please check on it so you dont need to suffer. Speaking from experience for my daughter (non CF) & me (CF).

I agree with the allergies recommendation, have you tried any allergy medication?

I go for both conventional, and not so conventional. Mark and I both use Echanecia (liquid, and I dont' think it's not spelled right) and a liquid elderberry product when we can't get over a cold with tylenol, antibiotics... I can tell you the great elderberr product I get-it is tastey. A bit high in sugar but much needed after the liquid echanecia that makes us both gag. Let me know if you are interested.

I don't think that I have allergies, but I could be wrong of course. Let me think about it Julie. I am getting better, just my gut hurts.
