Our little girl is 16 mos old and we're going back to the fertility doctor to try for baby #2! We had to do IUI 4 times before getting pregnant the first time, hopefully we can repeat that with the same (or better) success this time. Wish us luck!! I've posted a link to our family blog below...

goodluck,Blue! i wish you all the best and success.

i was wondering as you mentioned you had your little girl by IUI 4.
im seeing a fertiltiy specialist as we have been ttc for 22 months now(3 m/c)and have found that i have low progesterone levels.
if you don't mind me asking, did you have any negative feedback/problems as to what type of treatment would duit you best?
i have been told that because i have CF ,i am NOT eligble for CLOMID or IUI as it creates a higher risk of multiple pregnancies and that the only option we have is to do IVF.
i havn't actually had a chance to talk to any other CF sufferer who has had a similar problem.
i have been on the internet trying to get information to back me up so that i can get clomid and IUI. i am having a meeting in 9 weeks with the dr but i just dont know wher what to say that will make the dr give me clomid and IUI.
i was told if i had hypertension of lungs also thy cant help me(but i dont have that as my BP is normal range or sometimes low).
my lungfucntion is good and weight is going up and general health is good.i can understand them worrying about multiple pregnancy but if others have tried why cant i?
if you can give me some advice on what i could say to the dr to persuade them to let me try a cylce or to of clomid and IUI i would be grateful.
thank you and once again,i wish you all the best for baby #2
babydust your way!
xx

I am not sure why a dr would say you can't have IUI, an unmedicated IUI doesn't increase the risk for multiples at all. I had a total of 12 IUI's ( 6 unmedicated / 6 with injectibles) to have my two children ( 2 separate pregnancies)
I was on really low levels of meds and was monitored with ultrasound. The Dr and I agreed ahead of time if there were ever more than 2 mature follicles we would not do the iui that cycle but it was never an issue

Cookie - I'm sorry you're having issues with your doctors, I understand your frustration.

My regular OBG wouldn't allow me to take Clomid without being monitored, she referred me to a fertility clinic instead. I believe she had the same concerns it seems your doctors are expressing - the possibility for multiples. The fertility doctors I worked with put me on 5 days of 50mg Clomid, then Bravelle injections, eventually followed by a 'trigger' shot to induce ovulation. I was monitored every 2 - 5 days by ultrasound once I began taking Clomid to determine how many eggs were growing and would be potentially viable. The fertility doctors were careful to set the dosing so my body would mature 1 possibly 2 eggs at the time of IUI; It seemed to me that this was a bit of a guessing game on the doctors end because they don't always know how your body will respond to the medication and with each attempt the medication regiment was different. HOWEVER - before the IUI my doctors and I knew how many eggs were viable and my odds of having multiples (we never attempted and IUI with greater than 1 egg). If you get to the end of ferility treatments and there are 2 eggs, I always had the option not to proceed with the IUI and wait of the next cycle. Because of this I felt very comfortable. I'm not sure if this helps you know how to approach your doctors on this subject, it seems to me if you are going to a clinic that is closely monitoring their patients, the concern for multiples is greatly reduced.

Good luck Cookie! And thanks to everyone else for the congrats!!
