Trying to get pregnant

Lovecutie81,

Have you considered adoption? (but that can end up being just as expensive as IVF) Or another possibility, IUI with donor sperm. Sure the baby will not have the genetics of your husband, but it will still be his child, your family and from what I can tell, very well loved.

Other things to consider, have you been tested for the CF gene yourself? Has your husband been to a urologist to check for a missing vas deferens?

Good luck to you. I wish I could help more.

Tara thank you for advice. My husband has not been to a urologist yet to check. I'm trying to convince him to go. =) I do believe that things happen for a reason..and if we are meant to have a baby, we will. But its nice to have a support system of other women going or have gone through the same thing that can understand.

Lovecutie81, I also want to be that success story. My husband hasn't been to a urologist, but his sperm count pretty much answers that question for us. His CF doctor seems to think IVF is the only way, but I am seeing a fertility specialist next week, and from my research it seems that IUI could be a possibility after sperm retrieval. I read something that said the sperm aren't "mature enough" but the CF doctor said that there should be a combo of old and new. We'll see if it is just a pipe dream. I also live in Alaska and it will be a little more difficult to find somewhere that offers these services.

Good Luck!

Hello all,

I just recently found this website and decided to join today. I do not have CF but my new hubby does. He just found out last year that he has it (age 24). I have two healthy children from my precious relationship and he has none. I am african american and well he is caucasian. We desperately want to have children. I have been doing the charting for months now and we have been actively trying for the past 3 months. My gyn has giving me an seman analysis kit to have his sperm tested so now I am just waiting for him to get back from his out of town job so that we can do the test and get the results back. I guess my only real question is if it comes back that he is in the 98% what does it usually run to have IVF done and what other alternatives are there?
