tubes on vest

Duct tape?? More than once I've threatened to duct tape the vest to the hoses to avoid at least that end of the problem. I was recently at a CF Family Council meeting where the Vest rep came to speak and I begged him to strongly relay to the powers that be that they need to change the design so that the tubes don't pop off so often. It is soooo annoying.

it's funny you say that heather...i know someone who has duct taped her hoses to the machine for this exact reason. i haven't been able to bring myself to do this yet. i'm a bit anal about sometimes and the thought of the stickyness that would be left behind by the duct tape if it came off annoys me, just at the mear thought lol. but it has been done! lol. hopefully that rep will listen!

I just call Hil-Rom and ask for new tubes when that starts to happen. They are usually here (free!) within two days. I would think that they'd do this for you, even if your clinic won't authorize "new" stuff. They've always been great with us.

The other thing we've learned to do is to switch and roate the tubes every so often. The Hill Rom rep who came to our house to get us started on Emily's "new" protcol and to check the machine said that sometimes one port is bigger than the other and the tube stretches, etc. But if you flip and rotate every few days the stetching isn't so bad and they last longer. He said the company EXPECTS to send free replacements out about every 8 months to everybody who uses the vest. So, I take advantage and call when ours start to pop off.
