How many of you have gone in for tune ups when you don't even feel sick, but you're just really short of breath, your numbers are down, lost weight, etc?
You'd think if you have all that going on you would feel 'sick', but it doesn't always work that way. I think it's b/c of what we get used to before you actually feel sick.
I'm going to do a tune up to help with my shortness of breath (b/c it's bad), weight loss, down to the low end of my already low fev1 range, but I just feel fine otherwise. It always seems so strange to be sitting in a hospital for 2 weeks when you feel okay. You know?
Does anyone know where I'm coming from on this one?
The nurses usually come in my room and say, "oh, who's the patient?" b/c I don't look sick. You know, that whole song and dance..... <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif" border="0"> Oh well. It feels like you get judements made on you like, this is for people who are really sick, not you. It almost makes me feel bad that I'm there taking up bed space from someone else who might feel awful.
It's a double edged sword. If people could see how messed up you were on the inside they'd know, but instead we have the ability to hide how we feel most of the time b/c our exterior doesn't match our medical records always.
