Two CFers in same musical

Hi--We have always known there is another teen at DS's school with CF. DS is the atypical kind (late dx; more effects on pancreas than lungs) and the other child has classic, dx at birth CF. DS is a year older and they have no classes together and rarely bump into each other.

However, they are both working on this year's musical. DS is stage manager; other child is an actor. DS mentioned that she was in the play only yesterday after a month of practices. She had to leave practice early because she was being admitted to the hospital.

He claims to be staying 3 feet away from her. I feel the need to do something else here. I do not know the other child's parents. My thought is to communicate with the director of the play and the principal--I feel the other parent needs to know, especially since she is sicker. Any other ideas of how to handle this?

Thanks!

I agree it is vital the other child's parents know. Your son states that he has been keeping his distance from her; however, does the girl w/CF know your son has it as well so she can cooperate with cross-contamination measures?

I think I would want to talk to the other child's parents on your own first before contacting the staff members involved (although they too will likely need to be informed to help enforce cross-contamination measures.)
