two random questions while you are doing ivs

ok i know this is odd but i seem to dream alot more when i am on my iv meds. the dreams are very odd so to speak. does anyone experience this?

and the other question is do you notice a odd smell when you pee? i am not sure if this is typical. what do you think?

has there ever been a time when something odd has happen to you while you do your iv meds?

I don't know about dreams because mine are odd to begin with but I know what you mean about the pee. After a while it starts to smell like the saline (sp?) flushes that you do before and after each med. I can't think of anything weird happening since I got my med port but the last time I had a PICC my dad accidently unscrewed the cap on the end of the line instead of just the med while I was asleep and my PICC bled all over my bed until I woke up. That was not a pleasant site to wake up to! lol

to your first question, I, too, have WACKY dreams...so I don't notice anything more weird than I usually do when I'm on meds. If I'm in the hospital, I actually dream less, I think just because I don't always sleep that well.

to your second, YES. I actually posted not too long ago about smelling like medicine while on IVs. I got a lot of responses from people who both feel like they smell like the meds they're getting and have some wicked smelling pee, lol. I, myself can stink up the entire bathroom when I pee while on IVs, depending on the drug. Sometimes the smell will only last a week or so (or maybe I just get used to it), but that's again depending on what I'm on. And, oddly, I feel like I smell like the IVs I'm getting. In my post from a while ago, there was debate on whether or not the smell is from sweating the medication out or if the meds are actually messing with your senses and receptors in your nose.

I definitely have more dreams while I'm on certain IV and even oral meds. I'm not sure that they are wackier but I do dream/nightmare more.

And yes, I think I answered Erin's post about smelling funky while on IVs. My husband swears he smells it coming out of my pores. And yes, I think it can def give your pee an odor as well!
