Tygacil (tigecycline)

My son was on this for 8 months. There were no real side effects that we saw. It did not destroy the mycobacterium he has though and we stopped it last week.

Yes, Josh was on this for his mycobacterium a fews ago. He got very nauseous and tired with each dose. Infusing zofran before each dose helped a little. They discontinued it after a month when they thought imipenem worked better (and it did).

Yes, Josh was on this for his mycobacterium a fews ago. He got very nauseous and tired with each dose. Infusing zofran before each dose helped a little. They discontinued it after a month when they thought imipenem worked better (and it did).

I was on tygacil for my mycobacterial infection last winter. I was resistant to meropenam and imipenem, so they tried tygacil. For what it's worth, it worked very well. I haven't cultured m. abscessus since! BUT I could only stand 10 days of it. I was extremely nauseous the entire time, couldn't keep anything down and I lost over 10 pounds.
