ultrase vs creon

My son is currently taking Ultrase, but is having more diarrhea now, and I have been told by another CF mom that we may have to switch enzymes, and that her son does really well on Creon. I was wondering the differences between the two, and if there are any side effects to worry about with Creon.

My daughter has been on creon 20 but we are getting ready to switch to pancrecarb because she is not gaining weight. Otherwise she had no side effects with the creon and I hear it is a good enzyme, just hasn't worked for my daughter.

My daughter was on pancrease till she was about 7. she was taking quite a few capsules with this. So they put her on the stronger creon forte where she only needed 3 with meals and 2 with snacks. we are only now bumping her dose to 4 with meals and 3 with snacks because of not absorbing vitamins very well. She is pancreatic insufficient with short gut syndrome as well because of MI at birth.

Just a thought, make sure that the problem is not a bowel that may be too acidic. Then the enzymes enteric coating will not be dissolved and the enzymes will be useless.
