That's good to know that the ultrasounds can be inaccurate. They keep doing growth ultrasounds since I'm not gaining much weight and they want to make sure the baby is gaining. I still think it's a little overkill, but whatever. I've sort of given up with requesting less things with them at this point because they seem to think I need all this stuff.

I will not let them induce me unless there is some sort of risk to the baby that requires me to be induced. I agree that a big baby is a not reason for that. I'm hoping to be able to let nature take it's course!

My daughter was born with a very tight nuchal cord - we never knew of it because I only had the one big scan at like 20 weeks - it was scary when I heard them say "we've got a tight tight nuchal cord - DON'T PUSH!" but, she is fine and dandy and from what I can tell (I didn't have any monitors during my birth but a nurse was trying to put a doppler up against me the whole time) from what I asked the nurse she heard on the doppler, her heart rate never really decreased beyond what's normal.

Leah, great to hear the baby is doing well. Don't worry about size, early on they can tell fairly well, but as you get closer to the end the guesses get worse.

Think of it this way they are measuring how tall you are and your waist, and then guessing how much you weigh.

As for the cord, as everyone said, it is common, and is it normal practice to check during delivery. As the baby crowns the dr (or midwife) runs a finger along the baby's neck before they deliver and checks, if there is a cord, you hook it with your finger and pull the loops off.

My wife has high-risk pregnancies due to medical issues (not cf); sometimes ultrasounds just show everyone things that I think make it harder as we never knew before and did just fine <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">
