unidentified bacteria

We just received the call that my son has cultured pseudomonas. Along with the pseudomonas he has cultured a bacteria that had to be sent off to the state lab because UAB couldn't identify it. Has this ever happened to anyone else? What was it if so? Thanks

This has happened to me before. It will be identified by this other lab. They just need to send it off for a different type of test. For me, this has usually happened with steno. That doesn't mean it will be steno for your son. There are lots of bugs and some of them cause more problems than others. I wouldn't worry about it at this point. Just wait for it to come back and you can go from there.

Thanks Michael. It's hard not to worry being still new to this. He's cultured pseudomonas 3 times now and MRSA off and on his whole life. He's 4 now.
