UNUSED, STERILE SYRINGES

I have been cleaning out old medical & iv supplies & finally decided to ditch hundreds of unopened syringes that were either a wrong size for colistin or just never used.

I am not sure what to do with them. Being they are unused I thought they could just go in the trash. I believe NYS says only OPENED/USED needles need to be in a Sharps Container.

Then I also wonder if someone could use them, but not sure about the legal issues versus the actual meds.

If anyone can guide me....I know Jane had mentioned an organization that took supplies. I was wondering if that included new syringes & if it could be from any state.

I will have to find that link again.

In the meantime....thoughts?
