Prednisone is MURDER on my sugars. I become so insulin resistant that even increasing all my insulin levels (I have a pump) by 200% doesn't help much. That makes me average 400 instead of 800. In the past, though, I have found that cinnamon helps. During one particularly long course of prednisone, I started taking one cinnamon pill with my prednisone (got a bottle from GNC, I don't remember the mgs off the top of my head, sorry). It didn't make them perfect or even normal, really, but it certainly helped. My sugars were a little more consistent and when I wasn't eating, they were near 200 as opposed to 400. I find that if I continue the cinnamon as a normal routine post-prednisone, though, I tend to have more low blood sugars.

I've also been told that taking prednisone at night before bed instead of first thing in the morning will help your sugars be a little more balanced during the day. This I haven't tried yet.

Good luck!

Cleveland is still cold, lol. At least it's stopped snowing, though.

I know how you feel. Prednisone helps me breathe so much easier but it wreaks havoc on EVERYTHING else. I agree with you about the bad outweighing the good sometimes!

Are you still in pittsburgh? How is it there? How are you doing? Did you get any better with handling sunburn from abx? Prednisone might help that, actually, lol!

Hope you're well and hope you can wean off of the prednisone soon! Give it a good two weeks of being off of the prednisone completely and your sugars will be back to normal.
