Update on Adam

<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-confused.gif" border="0">so they did a new pft this morning and it has gone down again....i am just so fustrated i don't know what do think....any suggestions...i see on some boards that some people have done bronchoscopes???? what it this and does it help to clean things up....aaauuughhgh i am so tired what do we do?????<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif" border="0">

Although PFTs are important, I want you to realize they are just a tool. So many things can affect the results of a PFT since it is effort dependant. Time of day, energy level from sugars (if CFRD) or not eating, poor night sleep, aches & pains and the meds.

There will be ups/downs from the meds alone until he finally his a plateau. Its not unusual.

How much is the pft down? Bronchs have their place. It is an invasive procedure. Sometimes they go down into the airways just to look around. Sometimes they spray Pulmozyme directly into an area that is clogged up & remove the junk.


Please dont get totally discouraged yet.

Ditto on what Melissa said...

Do you feel Adams drs are covering all bases? Are they doing sputum cultures ?

There have been times that i have been on an abx only to find after a couple of weeks that it wasnt a good abx for what i was growing <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-disgusted.gif" border="0">

Just throwin' some ideas out there..

thanks for the info guys....i think we focus so much on the numbers because that is what the DR. focus's on.

yes they just changed his antibiotics yesterday to colistin (sp) and zon something (sorry not enough sleep).

I will keep all this in mind...it is just very hard.
