Update on Alysa

HI Everyone!

I am sure some of you checked out a few of my other posts regarding my two year old daughter, Alysa. We went and saw her pulmonologist yesterday and he gave us the news that the prednasone did in fact work, which was a blessing cause her wheezing was awful, but that meant that she DOES in fact have asthma.

Sort of hard to swollow because she is so little and her lungs are so small both my husband and I are alittle worried, nervous, and scared about what is going to happen to her. She seems fine and everything but I guess it's just overwhelming considering we are expecting another little CF daughter and we will have to go through all this stuff again with her....

Also, we are still waiting to see if her last swab from clinic grew pseudomonous that she had back in Jan/Feb.

Anyone else have a little one that has asthma also?

My litte ones both have asthma to. They are 4 and 2. They get wild sometimes and turn a bit blue. But the good thing is my big one is starting to ask for his inhailers if he is having a hard time.

That's good that he is able to tell you when he is having problems. That's what we are worried about.. from what I have heard Asthma is pretty common among CF patients.

Do you have to do anything special for your kids? Just trying to find ways to make things easier for her. We have her on a daily puffer and another one that is for "if needed" purposes, we are also still doing her chest percussions twice a day.

I've had asthma since I was little. The only advice I'd give at the moment is to keep an eye on her in certain situations that could aggravate her asthma... for example, if she is going to be running around a lot, or if others in the family are getting allergies. You will eventually learn what triggers her asthma the most and that will make it a bit easier.
