I'm glad Ry's family never babied him, or let him et out o anything. He had homework, chores, and everything else a kid his age had. He was treated as normal up to the point where they absolutely couldn't. I liked that Ry was raised that way, he was tough and bounced back from things. He also was an equal partner in my marriage and never expected me to baby him.
The real world goes by the pirate code "Whoever falls behind, gets left behind." It's a cruel lesson, but one he'll have to learn once he gets out in college and relationships, and a job. They won't tolerate someone used to being babied, or haivng special favors, least of all in relationships.
