Update on Paige

There's not much to tell here. I posted a blog I think last week, about Paige's Enzymes, and I was wondering if her dose of two was still not working.

Well, I called Dr. Black's office, and he asked me to have her checked out by our PCP, so we went the next day, and her conclusion was that Paige might need to be put on an Acid Reducer (is that right?) so the Enzyme's could have a chance to work. Well, Dr. Black agreed, and we started Paige on 1ml of Zyrtec every 6 hours last night.

As of today, we can already tell a difference. She's eating less, getting full, and her bowls have become more formed. I'm not seeing anymore grease/oil in them. Her tummy trouble also seems to have subsided.

I'm starting to worry about her lungs though. She's coughing more, and choking on her formula, and her Enzymes (which she never has before) Her wheezing is also getting worse.

Could this mean that her condition is worse then we thought? Or does this seem like a normal progression? I'll officially find out her mutations on Friday.

BTW...if anyone is a Gretchen Wilson fan...I had the pleasure of attending one of her concerts last night! (It was my mom's way of reminding me that I'm still a person, and not just a mom) I got some awesome pictures, if anyone would like to see em just message me! I'll be happy to share

zyrtec or zantac? I only ask because zyrtec is for allergies, and our pharmacy accidentally gave us zyrtec instead of zantac once.

Let the doctors know about any increase in her coughing/wheezing, she may have something going on in there. Could be a bacteria she is growing that she might need antibiotics for, or just a little cold. Does her nose seem stuffy? That can cause some choking on the bottle. Or maybe the nipple is too fast?

As far as gagging on the enzymes, my daughter did fine with them for a couple of months and then started gagging horribly, sometimes vomiting. We've been playing around with different ways to give them, trying to find what works. The clinic recommended really cold applesauce, and very small amounts at a time in the inner cheek. Try to avoid the roof of the mouth, that can make them gag.

Hi Amber:
I can't believe that happened to you also. My daughter's Zantan bottle was filled with Zyrtec. She had horrible headaches until we figured it out. She was only 4 and she kept telling me that her medicine tasted different. I just thought it was a new flavor. It was a good reminder that pharacies make mistakes and that even young children can alert you to something that is not right. Sorry it happened to you also.
