Update on Sean

Reading this made MY blood pressure go through the roof.....sometimes I don't know where parents draw their strength to advocate for their kids like they must. We have enough to do as parents; I think we should be able to rely on medical professionals to act appropriately, but apparently not always. I admire Sean that he was able to collect himself at least once through all of this. Too bad the nurse couldn't collect herself.

Anyway, I'm really glad you all got through it and are home. I'm so sorry that it was such a horrible ordeal.

This kind of crap has happened to us at least once. It makes me SOOOOO angry. Since when do children only need a PICC line with sedation Mon-Fri, 8am-5pm. That is the part that has always thrown me. At our childrens hospital we have 2 freakin picc nurses and guess what-Mon-Friday 8am-5pm is their schedule. I made a huge promise to my baby that the next time we come in, arranged or not, we will not be coming in until Caleb can be given a general anethestic and given the PICC line ASAP...period. There will be no more poking for IVS every 8-12 hours. He is a terrible poke and I am not going to put him through that all the time-he has gone through enough...just like your kiddo has. I am so sorry he had to go through that-at least he is home away from the "nurse-zillas" as Jane stated.
