Keeping you in my thoughts. Hope you're feeling better soon and they get the RT situation figured out! And to think we had round the clock cpt/vest every 4 hours!

I feel the need to "defend" my Clinic. The regular therapists for the CF patients are hired/paid by the clinic. They are not part of the regular Physical Therapy department of the hospital.

Due to staffing changes, hospital regulations & state laws the hours that they are allowed to work has been cut drastically over the years.

They are hoping to put things back eventually, but you know what its like to get things.

IF there is an an emergency or someone truly requiring CPT after hours & the vest isnt workable for various reason they can get someone from the hospital PT to come up & do CPT. It will not be as good or as aggressive as the Clinic's Therapists because they are trained specifically for CFers.

The Intern is like any other "newby" to CF. I found out he is coming from their medical rotation & although they know the "basics" of CF, they really are ignorant to much of Respiratory. So its up to me as it has been in the past to help them learn or shooo them along.

I am very happy with the overall care & have been for years. I dont think any place (especially teaching hospitals) will run completely smoothly, but you do have to laugh at the mishaps!

HUGS to y'all!

M always coughs all over those types of interns, lol.

Although, he saw a Fellow at clinic today. She got just a small feel of his liver and was like, "IS HE SEEING ANYONE FOR HIS LIVER!!!"

Um, no, he's had CF related liver disease since he was 3 months old and you are the first person to notice his liver and spleen are way to f**ing large for a 7 year old child.

I just rolled my eyes and said, he was seen by the Director of the Transplant Unit 3 months ago and will be seen by him again in 3 more months.

So Mel, is that cough gone yet. And, is that the criteria we need to spring you from the joint? Cause in that case, maybe you'd better record one of us healthy individuals and hide the recording in your bed while you hide in the bathroom when you're ready to leave.
