Urinary Incontinence Surgery??

I am considering the urinary incontinence surgery. I have had urinary incontinence for three years. It was worse during my pregnancy, but it still bugs me. What I am wondering though is if it really works with CFers? Most of my incontinence is when I am coughing really hard. But if I continue to have bouts of hard coughing after the surgery will the surgery actually work? I realize that eventually the stress of coughing would cause incontinence again, but how long would it last?

Jeana, it is often discouraged for women with CF. First, the gynecologists don't want you to cough after surgery. Second, it may need to be repeated in a few years .... I'm afraid I would blow out all of the work with a good coughing episode, or longer.
I'm looking for options, alas, haven't found any yet.

I myself often wondered about what my options are if my "leaking" problem gets worse. I cant imagine the surgery being the best option since we have to cough. I would think the stitching would tear within the first few days. I guess i will be wearing poise pads forever , and graduating from the light to heavy as time goes on. Other than the kegel exercises and incontinence pads i dont know what other safe option we have.

Maybe I just have my head in the sand, but I think if I didn't cough my stitches out from the tearing during my vaginal birth, then possibly I won't cough out the ones for incontinence. Also, my CF doc recommended the surgery...
