Using the feeding tube to hydrate

"We also use it to bolus any liquid that he needs like medications that he does not like the taste of, another benefit!"

Same here! My daughter gets so frustrated because Marissa just uses a syringe to take the yucky medicine and she can't. Several times she has been on the same antibiotics as Marissa at the same time (she gets sympathy ear infections I believe. They say ear infections are not contagious, but they always get them within days of each other). But anyway she would try to challenge Marissa to take it by mouth and Marissa would look at her like she was a fool, lol. It's nice when she can see a plus in all of this.

I almost wish you could get Mic-Key buttons on demand. My oldest daughter was/is the worst at taking medicine. She couldn't swallow pills until she was 11 yrs old, they would gag her and bring her to tears, and most of the liquid you would give her would end up all over the place because she has a terrible time swallowing anything she didn't like.

Terry - My girls get ear infections at the same time, too. What's up with that?

Just wanted to share a quick story about the issue of "Yucky" medicines being give through the tube.

A week or so ago Emily was on oral antibiotics (omniceft, I think) for a sinus infection. I was getting a syringe loaded up to put it in her tube. Her big sister was also on an antibiotic at the time (Ear infection...yep, Emily got one the next week despite being on the anti WHILE she got it...). Emily watched her big sister drink her medicine from a little cup. She asked me to put the medicine in her mouth too. I told her she could try it and put a little on her tongue. She tasted it, thought about it for a bit, then said with all the deadpan a 2 year old can muster, "Uhhh, put it in my tube, I think," while pulling up her shirt. Smart little bugger! They learn so quick.

Thanks for the tip on adding water through the tube. I'll keep it in mind for humid summer weather!

LOL! I love it! It's great that every now and then we can give these guys a "plus" in all of this.
