Vacuum Cleaner

I have a Eureka Boss with hepa filter. I would never go with bagless for the same reasons everyone else mentioned. Bagless is great for saving $$ and not having to buy bags all the time, but they are not good for people with lung issues.

Very good point with the bagless vacuums. I didnt even think about that. However, I might want to add, there is a very high chance that I will not be doing the vacuuming. I get short of breathe really easy, especially when cleaning. Either my husband or a family friend that cleans house for extra money will probably be using it and emptying it out. Will the bagless part be as big of a deal if I'm not the one emptying it?

Miele vacs look really nice, but I cant afford that right now...but will keep it in mind for the future.

Diane, I will check into the Eureka Boss w/ HEPA Filter. I didnt know they made one. This Bissell vacuum is the first I had heard with a HEPA Filter. How do you like the Eureka Boss? Does it pick up good? Especially with stuff like pet hair?

I have a bottom of the line Oreck that is about 8 years old, and I use the Hepa bags with it. It seems to do a good job. I can only use the Oreck brand bags though- I tried a "made for Oreck" type off brand from a local store, and they aren't quite up to snuff.

I think that just about every major brand of vacuums makes a Hepa filter vacuum of some type. I can do a consumer report search and pm you <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif" border="0"> .

Oh, and if the person who is vacuuming opens and empties it into the outside trash can, then it would probably be okay. But when you open them in the house, you get a cloud of dust that just goes back into the room. I empty my cordless Eureka Boss Lite outside (and hold my breath- lol).

Hi Danyell,
Im sorry i made a slight mistake Its called a Eureka Maxima. I do have the Boss and that does have the hepa filter also, but since i broke the roller on it i only use it for cleaning the lizard cages with the long wand. Yes the Eureka Maxima does a great job !! I have 2 cats, one that has longer hair than the other and (sheds like its his job) and this does a great job of getting up all the hair. I got it at Sears and it was reasonably priced less than $130. It also has something on in called a power paw, you attach it to the attached hose and vacuum all the furniture with it.
