Has anyone bought Vertex stock or thought about it? It has crossed my mind.

I am curious, if one is doing a drug trial and doing really well so you are pretty sure you are on the actual drug and it is working well. Would it be some sort of insider trading to go buy the stock of the company who developed the drug. I guess this is assuming such knowledge of the drugs success was going to mean gains for the companies stock. I guess the reverse is possible too. This is just a question of curiosity, I have not been in any of the trials.

This sounds so promising~ I hope the 'pivotal trial data' they will be getting in the next several months will be GOOD data!

It's a new class of medication...exciting. Very hopeful for the 5% of individuals with CF that it helps. I'm not a pessimist...but the results of this drug seem to be most promising for the G551D mutation. Data for DD mutation hasn't been as dramatic with Vertex809. Maybe the combined trial of 770/809 will be more encouraging...will continue to await those results!!!! <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

I too am very interested in the 770/809 trial (as, I am sure, is everyone else with at least one df508 mutation.)
If 770 proves a success for G551D, I hope it can be tried for other mutations that are similar in how they affect the gene with similar good results.

Holding my breath on that clinical data they are waiting for with ALL the trials- as we've seen with the recent demise of denufosol, they will need to see significant and long-term good results for the process to move forward, and things can look very good right up until they, well, just DON'T anymore. We were hearing great things about denufosol just weeks before bad results scrapped the trials. I don't think I'm a pessimist either, but tempering my hope right now with some 'wait and see' until that data comes in...

I am in finance and since my dd's diagnosis have been thinking about this. After the failure of denufosol, the stock lost 58% and i changed my mind. The thing is , as in case with denufosol, some people felt better on it, but on average there was no statistical improvement, so the drug sort of failed.

I don't think it constitutes insider trading though unless you buy the stock knowing the results of the trial before they come out, which i suppose you don't. Buying the stock based on how you feel does not look like insider tradin to me.
