Has anyone bought Vertex stock or thought about it? It has crossed my mind.
I am curious, if one is doing a drug trial and doing really well so you are pretty sure you are on the actual drug and it is working well. Would it be some sort of insider trading to go buy the stock of the company who developed the drug. I guess this is assuming such knowledge of the drugs success was going to mean gains for the companies stock. I guess the reverse is possible too. This is just a question of curiosity, I have not been in any of the trials.</end quote>
I am in finance and since my dd's diagnosis have been thinking about this. After the failure of denufosol, the stock lost 58% and i changed my mind. The thing is , as in case with denufosol, some people felt better on it, but on average there was no statistical improvement, so the drug sort of failed.

I don't think it constitutes insider trading though unless you buy the stock knowing the results of the trial before they come out, which i suppose you don't. Buying the stock based on how you feel does not look like insider tradin to me.
