Kelli -- I have two suggestions. First call the RT at the clinic. Suzie was a huge help to us when we had issues, and she wrote a letter of necessity from herself and the doctors. Also call the vest company, they have people whose job is to fight the insurance company. I'm so sorry you are having to fight them, but I KNOW that you should be able to get a new one after SIXTEEN years!! SHeesh!!! Most TVs don't last that long anymore, how can they expect medical equipment to last that long and still be effective.

i'm not sure but doesn't the 105 or whatever the newest one is have some new features that do the varying of frequencies for you or something like that? where you can set programs? try to sell them that that has some benifit besides making you not have to push the button, the people at insurance are just being cheap and don't probably even know what the vest is good for and certainly don't realize that all you have to do is push the button to change it to your own custom program, or in your case, the 16 year old vest, turn the knob...

I've neglected to get a new vest for the very reason that I knew in advance insurance wouldn't cover it. Let us know if it works out and what your doctor wrote to get it covered. I wasn't going to be able to get leave from the sick leave bank because it wasn't taken all in one chunk, however I wrote a letter for my doctor and he signed it stating that "intermittent" leave was necessary, so I was able to get leave. Sometimes it's just the right phrasing. Good luck!
