I bet the clamp on hoses are nice. Aren't you just so glad we have options other than doing the manual CPT? It has really changed my life! I love having a vest for my daughter.

I have to admit, I was measuring weekly once Piper started getting close to the chest size! I've gone back to manual when she's gotten her ports in, and it about killed my arms..I don't miss it a bit!

Yes, the Hillrom 105 is completely programmable and has a pause feature allowing you to pause to cough whenever you need to without messing up your settings. It comes with a cord with a squeeze bulb on the end you can hang on to so you don't have to get up from where you are sitting to pause the vest, or you can pause on the unit itself. It can be turned on and off (and unplugged) without losing your settings. You can program a cycle of up to 8 different speeds/pressures.

The improved vest jacket is washable and has new hose connectors that dramatically reduce wear and tear on the hoses near the end, since they don't have to 'bend' around on the sides and they move with your child. Before, the way they stuck straight out the sides and then had to bend around DID lead to a lot of cracking. In the almost year since getting the new jacket, the hoses we got with it still look like new. They come undone far less often, too. I feel the new design of the jacket gives much better percussion in back than the old one since the shoulders now lie flat, and the velcro doesn't grab Emily's hair, so she likes it better too.

All that said, we haven't tried any of the others... but wanted to clarify the differences between the older 104 and the model currently offered (the 105) which offers many improvements.

Thanks, Harriet! That does sound much better, improvement is always a good thing! I knew they had come out with the new jackets, but didn't realize there was a whole new model machine as well.

I have both the respirtech and hill rom and prefer hill rom for it's vibration. I've tried all sorts of settings on the Respirtech but just don't seem to get the same session out of it. I use the minnesota jacket with my hill rom. They don't send it unless you ask for it specifically as this. Now that the 105 has the programmable features I don't see why one wouldn't go with the hill rom.

Re. the Minnesota vest: I called HillRom to ask about this, because I wanted one for Emily. They said when they phased in the new washable jackets, all of the full vests have the 'Minnesota' fit now.
